1961 **50^th anniversary** The Woodrow Wilson Bridge, which crosses the Potomac River and connects Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia, was opened to traffic on the 105^th anniversary of Wilson's birth.  The widow of President Wilson, Edith Bolling Galt Wilson, died the same day.
