1962 **50^th anniversary** Operations Northwoods was suggested in a memo from the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to the US Defense Secretary.  The memo included proposals suchn as blowing up a US Navy ship in Guantanamo Bay and hijacking a civilian aircraft.  The acts would be blamed on Cuba to create public support for war against that country.
