1942 **70th anniversary** An American Airlines flight and a US B-34 bomber collided near Palm Springs, California.  All 12 people aboard the DC-3 died while the US Army Air Forces plane landed safely.  Among those to die was Ralph Rainger, composer of Thanks for the Memory.
