HERE helps launch Virginia Automated Corridors
Since HERE provides the precision 3D maps that deliver lane-level detail crucial to the advancement of highly automated driving, they were chosen to be part of a partnership with Virginia Tech Transportation Institute, the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles, the Virginia Department of Transportation, and Transurban to test fully automated cars on public roads in Virginia.
In addition to 3D maps, HERE provides Live Roads and Humanized Driving. Live Roads allow cars to report what is happening around them to other vehicles such as traffic congestion, an accident, or even an animal on the road. HERE's humanized driving uses actual driver behavior to instruct the vehicle to perform more like a human and less like a robot. All of these technologies are critical to ensure the safe and successful future of automated driving.
